Do you need KYC and two factor authentication on your platform?
KYC verification for users is not part of the ready-made script. Everything below is how it works and what to look for. If you want it on your platform, message us on Telegram and tell us exactly how you want it to behave, and we will build it to that.
These two get bundled together as security features and they are not the same kind of decision at all. One is a straightforward yes. The other depends entirely on your business and your jurisdiction.
These are two different decisions
Two factor authentication protects an account from someone who has the password. It costs you nothing except a setup screen.
Identity verification establishes who somebody is. It costs you registrations, support time and the responsibility of holding sensitive documents.
Deciding them separately is the first step. Many operators either switch both on and lose signups, or switch both off and leave accounts undefended.
Two factor: switch it on
For admin accounts it is not optional. An admin login is the keys to every balance on the platform, and a password alone is not enough protection for that. Every admin, every time.
For users, offer it from day one and encourage it. Requiring it before the first withdrawal is the compromise most platforms land on: nothing blocks registration, and the account is protected before money can leave.
Pair it with the rule from editing user profiles and KYC records: a withdrawal to a newly changed payout address always goes to manual review. Two factor plus that rule defeats most account takeovers, because the attacker needs the password, the second factor and time.
An admin controlled investment platform, installed and configured for you. Full admin control, live in 6 to 12 hours, from $149.
KYC: a business decision, not a feature
Whether to verify identity depends on where you operate, who your users are, and what you are willing to take on. It is worth being clear about what it does and does not do.
| Helps with | Does not help with |
|---|---|
| Duplicate accounts abusing bonuses | Whether a withdrawal is legitimate today |
| Disputes where identity is contested | A compromised account with valid documents on file |
| Requirements in some jurisdictions | Your liability arithmetic |
| Deterring casual abuse | Deciding whether your plans are payable |
Verification is not a substitute for reviewing withdrawals. A verified user can still be compromised, which is why the queue and its threshold still matter: manual or automatic payouts.
What does verification cost you?
- Registrations: every additional step at signup loses people, and asking for a passport loses more than most
- Support time: rejected documents, expired documents, poor photographs, people asking why
- Responsibility: you are now holding identity documents, which is a duty rather than an asset
None of that argues against doing it. It argues for doing it deliberately, and for requiring it at the point where it earns its cost rather than at the front door.
If you collect documents, store less
Two habits, adopted on day one:
- Keep the outcome, the date and who approved it. Delete the scan once the decision is made
- Make viewing a document a separate permission from seeing verification status, so support staff can do their job without browsing everybody's passport
Role separation is covered in multiple admins: who should see and do what?
Where should a new platform start?
A workable default: two factor available to all users and mandatory for admins from launch; no identity verification at signup; verification required above a withdrawal threshold you set; documents deleted after the decision.
That protects accounts, keeps registration friction low, and puts the expensive step where the money is. What to demand from a vendor before buying is in how to buy a HYIP script without getting burned.
Common questions
Is two factor authentication necessary?
On any platform holding balances, yes, and it should be available to users from day one and mandatory for every admin account.
Should two factor be mandatory for users?
Encouraged rather than forced is the usual balance, because forcing it at signup costs registrations. Requiring it before a first withdrawal is a good compromise.
Do I have to collect identity documents?
That depends on where you operate and is a legal question rather than a software one. Many platforms run without it; some jurisdictions require it.
What does KYC actually protect me from?
Duplicate accounts abusing bonuses, some categories of fraud, and disputes where identity is contested. It is not a substitute for a withdrawal review.
What is the cost of requiring KYC?
Registrations drop, support work rises, and you take on responsibility for storing sensitive documents. Those are real costs and worth weighing deliberately.
Can I require verification only above an amount?
Yes, and it is the most practical arrangement: small activity unverified, verification required before larger withdrawals.
How long should documents be kept?
Keep the outcome and the date, then delete the scan once the decision is made. The document is a liability sitting on your server.
